DIY Hair Color

Calling all brunettes, redheads and blondes! Whether you visit the salon every 6 weeks or stroll through your day al naturalé, there’s always room for addition shine to your locks.

Julie Gabriel, the author of The Green Beauty Guide, created these natural ingredients for a temporary boost and vibrancy to your hair. It only takes a few minutes a week, and you won’t have the mess of dyes, chemicals, or odors!

Blondes

What you need: 1 lemon, 1 raw potato, ½ cup chamomile tea (room temperature)

What you do: Grate potato and blend with inside of lemon to form a paste (squeeze out the lemon juice before doing so). Then, add tea. Massage mixture lightly into clean, damp hair. Cover with PVS-free shower cap or plastic wrap, and then evenly heat with hair dryer for 3 minutes. Rinse and style, you bombshell blonde!

Redheads

What you need: 2 medium carrots, 2 tablespoons honey, 3 tablespoons yogurt, ½ cup cranberries

What you do: Chop carrots in a food processor or blender along with cranberries. Add yogurt and honey and mix well. Add evenly to clean, damp hair and keep in for 2 minutes. Rinse and style, you ravishing redhead!

Brunettes

What you need: ½ cocoa powder, ½ cup plain yogurt, 1 teaspoon honey, 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

What to do: Whisk all ingredients together into paste and apply to clean, damp hair for 3 minutes (remember to wrap a towel around your neck to avoid dripping and temporarily staining your skin). Rinse and style, you breathtaking brunette!

Enjoy your enhanced color, frugalista, and be cautious as to not break necks as you walk down the street.
